Surgery Process

Anaesthesia Consultation

Your Anaesthetist will ask questions to determine your fitness for anaesthesia and to help decide what kind of anaesthetic would be best suited for you. Please feel free to ask any questions concerning your anaesthetic or planned post-operative pain relief.

Surgery Process

Following a consultation with your Anaesthetist and/or a member of your surgical team, you will be taken into the operating room by the anaesthetic nurse, placed on a bed or operating table and the anaesthesia will commence.

At the completion of your procedure, you will be taken to the recovery unit where our nurses will monitor your recovery and administer any pain-relieving and/or other drugs ordered by the anaesthetist, to ensure you are as comfortable as possible. You may not recall much of this stage.

Recovery

Once you are awake and recovering, you will be transferred to the ward. Everyone experiences and responds to pain differently. Our team is committed to ensuring you are comfortable during this time. Do not hesitate to speak with the team caring for you should you have any concerns.
