Dr Steven Parker graduated with honours from the University of Queensland in 1985, before joining the Australian Defence Force as a Dental Officer.
In 1997, Dr Parker was selected to attend the Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Oral Surgery) at the University of Otago, New Zealand, which he passed with distinction. This was a full-time training program which provided extensive training in oral surgery and oral medicine. In 1998 (and again in 2004), he completed the Early Management of Severe Trauma course held by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. In 2000, he was selected to attend the Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Conscious Sedation and Pain Control) at the University of Sydney; and upon completion he was awarded the ASDA (Australian Society for Dental Anaesthesia) award for excellence as the top qualifying student.
Dr Parker resigned from the regular Army, but transferred to the Reserve Force on promotion to Lieutenant Colonel as a consultant in sedation and pain control. He has provided oral surgical and sedation services to private practices in the Sydney region (principally the Hills region) since 1998; and subsequently formed the highly regarded Wisdom Teeth Centre.
Dr Parker has lectured widely throughout Australia and New Zealand on topics concerned with pain and anxiety control; and conducts the Advanced Local Anaesthesia and Inhalational Sedation workshops for the Australian Dental Association. He has also conducted courses teaching dentists basic oral surgery.
