All cosmetic and reconstructive procedures
Our face is perhaps the most inextricable sense of “self”. It is the canvas on which our life story is most vividly played out. In time, it comes to bear the blemishes of environment, life style or simply the passage of days inside out. Increasingly, non-surgical means of rejuvenation have allowed us to achieve a better, more youthful appearance for longer, in keeping with our general health. Surgical techniques of facelift surgery have improved dramatically in recent years to become safer and more reliable, with faster recovery times, whilst also yielding natural long lasting results.
My approach to facial aesthetic surgery is born out of both my facial reanimation reconstructive surgery as well as my cosmetic subspecialty fellowships. My techniques for face and neck lift surgery utilise a short scar and minimal skin dissection and excisions. The composite techniques utilised reset the clock in the most natural and reproducible way, replacing the operated look with a refreshed and youthful look. The contours of the neck are re-established whilst character and essence is maintained.
This involves the manipulation of the layers of muscles present in facial expressions, referred to as the SMAS. In dissecting deep to this plane, meticulous technical and anatomical knowledge protects the branches of the facial nerve. The SMAS layer once released from its ligamentous anchors is resuspended to its position in youth thereby achieving both long lasting and natural outcomes. The surgery can take between 4-6 hours depending on the extent involved and requires an overnight stay. Most patients resume normal activities within a few days and most are out and about by two weeks.
