This year’s theme, "It might be gloves. It's always hand hygiene," was at the heart of the event, reminding everyone that while gloves play a key role in infection control, hand hygiene is always the first line of defense. Participants enjoyed playing Putt-Putt golf, where they not only competed for small prizes but also cleaned their hands with Cutan Alcohol Foam before picking up a golf club - a light-hearted way to reinforce the critical message that clean hands save lives.
Surgical Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) Katheryn Buxton praised the initiative, saying, “It was fun and educational - a great way to keep hand hygiene front of mind for everyone. The mix of games and information really helped the message stick.”
The event was made possible through the support of Ryan Smith, SC Johnson’s representative, who was on-site to engage with staff, answer questions, and demonstrate the proper use of Cutan Alcohol Foam. Widely used across Lakeview Hospital, the foam’s fast-drying, skin-friendly formula makes it easy for healthcare workers to practice effective hand hygiene throughout their busy shifts.
The Putt-Putt Golf Blitz brought plenty of smiles and laughter, while reinforcing a vital message about infection prevention. With every swing of the club came a reminder that whether you're wearing gloves or not, clean hands are always essential.
Hand Hygiene Day continues to be an important part of Lakeview Private Hospital’s commitment to quality care and infection control — and with engaging events like this one, the message of clean hands remains stronger than ever.
