Dr Sanjay Adusumilli is a General and Colorectal Surgeon employed within the Sydney West Area Health Service. He performs surgery for both public and private patients.
After graduating from Monash University in 2003, Dr Adusumilli undertook his surgical training at Westmead Hospital. He was accepted into the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) training program in 2010 and completed further subspecialty training in colorectal surgery at Fremantle Hospital (Western Australia) and Oxford University Hospitals (United Kingdom). He worked as a consultant in Oxford before returning to Australia.
Dr Adusumilli treats a range of general surgical conditions and colorectal disorders. He has advanced training in laparoscopic surgery, including minimally invasive and robotic procedures. He also performs gastroscopies and colonoscopies. All of his cancer patients are discussed at the Westmead Hospital Colorectal Multidisciplinary Team meetings.
He completed a Master of Surgery at the University of Sydney. He has published on numerous topics, including colonic bleeding, faecal incontinence, obstructed defecation and single-incision surgery. He has been invited to review articles for surgical journals and present at conferences throughout Australia and overseas. He is also actively involved in teaching medical students and surgical trainees.
Dr Adusumilli was involved in establishing the Western Sydney Pelvic Floor Clinic at Blacktown Hospital. He is also a co-founder of the Global Medical Foundation Australia, a charitable organisation that raises funds and provides medical services to developing countries. Each year, he travels overseas to support this work.
