Dr Buddhika Balalla is an Australian-trained Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon, who specialises in all aspects of knee surgery including arthroscopic surgery, ACL reconstruction, partial and total knee replacements, revision knee replacement and patient specific knee replacements.
Dr Balalla graduated from Medicine at the University of New South Wales in 2001. After completing his internship and residency at the St George and Sutherland Hospitals, he commenced his surgical training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2003. He was selected for the Australian Orthopaedic Association Orthopaedic Training Program in 2007, and subsequently undertook further subspecialty training in advanced knee surgery with world-leading orthopaedic units in the United Kingdom, Belgium and the United States.
Dr Balalla uses computer-aided surgery in total and unicompartmental knee replacement, matched to individual patient biometrics, which can significantly enhance long-term knee function and comfort. He also has an interest in the repair of meniscus tears and reconstruction of the ACL and other knee ligaments.
Dr Balalla operates at Lakeview Private Hospital and is also the current Department Head at Westmead Public Hospital.
