Dr Peter Dutton is an advanced laparoscopic colorectal and general surgeon, who has a public practice at Blacktown and Mt Druitt Hospitals; and private practice at the Lakeview Private Hospital and Norwest Hospital.
Dr Dutton’s undergraduate training was completed at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) with a MB BS Bsc (Med) degree; and he is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He completed further subspecialty training in colorectal surgery, undertaking a one year Colorectal Fellowship at Westmead Hospital in Sydney and a second year Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellowship at Singapore General Hospital in Singapore.
Dr Dutton is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and NZ (CSSANZ); and is GESA accredited for gastrointestinal endoscopy. He has also received training in endorectal 3D ultrasound and 3D anorectal physiology and manometry, at the Washington University School of Medicine and Missouri Baptist Hospital in St Louis (USA).
Dr Dutton’s colorectal surgical interests include:
– Colon and rectal cancer (sporadic and hereditary)
– Diverticular disease
– Inflammatory bowel disorders
– Rectal bleeding and positive FOBTs
– Peri-anal conditions (haemorrhoids, fistulas, etc.)
Despite his specialist training in colorectal surgery, he still treats patients with general surgical conditions, including:
– Gallbladder disease (laparoscopic cholecystectomy)
– Hernias (laparoscopic inguinal, ventral abdominal and incisional hernia repairs)
