Dr Sivananthan (Dr Siva) is a General Surgeon with sixteen years of experience. He has a special interest in Advanced Laparoscopic Procedures, Hernia Surgery, Skin Cancer Surgery and Endoscopic Procedures.

Dr Siva is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, a Member of the General Surgeons of Australia, a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and a Fellow of the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka. He is accredited by the Gastroenterology Society of Australia for gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures.

Dr Siva undertook his medical training in Sri Lanka, where he attained a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery in 2000, a Master of Surgery in 2005, and became a General Surgeon in 2007. After moving to Australia in 2007, Dr Siva commenced work as a General Surgeon at Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals, Queensland, in 2010.  He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2013. In 2018 Dr Siva joined St Stephen’s Private Hospital Hervey Bay.

Passionate about education, Dr Siva has held a Senior Lecturer position at the University of Queensland since 2015, supervises surgical trainees and teaches medical students. He is published in multiple peer-reviewed journals.

In 2022, Dr Siva joined Lakeview Private Hospital where he is available for consultation and procedures. He is committed to always delivering the highest standards of clinical practice and patient care. Dr Siva endeavours to see patients within two weeks of being referred. His international experience has proven invaluable to his work as a general surgeon. Dr Siva can consult in English & Tamil.
