This invaluable evening for dental specialists and indeed GP’s will comprise of a series of presentations which will provide those attending with some interesting insights into a few of the latest techniques in dentistry. Hosted by Australian Dental Specialists and the Wisdom Teeth Centre, the evening will include presentations on local anaesthetics, endodontic techniques, implant placement, and understanding zirconia based restorations.

Drinks and light food will be served during the evening.

“Local Anaesthetics: A dentist’s best friend”

Dr Steven Parker – The Wisdom Teeth Centre

This talk will cover the basics of how local anaesthetics work and will examine the factors that determine the onset of action, duration of action and potency of these drugs.

“Conservative Endodontic Treatment”

Dr Varayini Yoganathan – Australian Dental Specialists

This talk will focus on the value of preserving dentine in the peri-cervical region and how modern endodontic equipment can help us with this task.

“From Extraction to Implant Placement”

Dr Jeremy Vo – Australian Dental Specialists

This talk will be an overview on surgical considerations for implant placement, including when is the best time for implant placement and when to graft.

“Understanding Zirconia: The material and its handling”

Dr Daniel Tan – Australian Dental Specialists

This talk will give an overview of the material, laboratory, manufacturing and clinical parameters that determine the success of zirconia-based restorations.

Presenters

Dr Steven Parker

BDSc (Hons), Grad Dip Clin Dent (Oral Surgery), Grad Dip Clin Dent (Conscious Sedation & Pain Control), FICD

Dr Steven Parker has provided oral surgical and sedation services to private practices in the Sydney region since 1998. He is the founder of the highly regarded Wisdom Teeth Centre and has consulting rooms in Castle Hill and Bella Vista. Dr Parker has lectured widely throughout Australia and New Zealand. He also conducts the Advanced Local Anaesthesia and Inhalational Sedation workshops for the Australian Dental Association.

Dr Varayini Yoganathan

BDS, DClinDent (Endodontics)

Dr Varayini Yoganathan is an experienced Endodontist who has trained both locally and internationally. She is the founder of Australian Dental Specialists – a state of the art specialist practice located in Norwest Business Park at Baulkham Hills, providing a specialist services to local dentists as well as dental specialists and their patients. She has a special interest in the longevity of endodontically treated teeth and conservative endodontic management.

Dr Jeremy Vo

BDS (Adel),DCIinDent (Syd), MRACDS (Perio)

Dr Jeremy Vo is registered as a Specialist Periodontist with the dental board of Australia and is a Member of the prestigious Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He has been awarded separate research grants in the fields of periodontology and craniofacial biology. He is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists and the International Team for Implantology. Dr Vo regularly speaks at conferences in Australia and lectures on topics including the latest concepts in the management of periodontal diseases.

Dr Daniel Tan

BDSc,DCIinDent (Pros), MRACDS (Pros)

Dr Daniel Tan is a board-registered Specialist Prosthodontist and is a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He is committed to expanding and disseminating knowledge, and actively participates in the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists, International College of Prosthodontists, and the Australian Prosthodontic Society. He is involved with academic teaching at the University of Sydney and frequently lectures on topics including contemporary fixed and implant prosthodontics.
