This invaluable evening for Physiotherapists and indeed GPs will provide those attending with a clear insight into the ACL and the patellofemoral joint.

The evening is hosted by Dr Bu Balalla, an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in all aspects of knee surgery including arthroscopic surgery, ACL reconstruction, partial and total knee replacement, revision knee replacement and computer assisted surgery. He has completed fellowships in patellofemoral surgery, knee reconstruction, and knee replacement.

The presentations will focus on the latest understanding of the mechanics and treatment options available in the treatment and rehabilitation of these complex injuries, and leave attendees well-equipped to diagnose these injuries and with clear guidelines on when to refer. Discussion and questions are encouraged.

Dr Balalla is an orthopaedic knee surgeon with a special interest in the treatment of complex knee conditions.

After completing medical and orthopaedic training in Sydney, Dr Balallaundertook further subspecialty training in advanced knee surgery withworld-leading orthopaedic units in the United Kingdom, Belgium and the United States.

Dr Balalla uses computer-aided surgery in total- and unicompartmental knee replacement, matched to individual patient biometrics, which can significantly enhance long-term knee function and comfort. He also has an interest in the repair of meniscus tears and reconstruction of the ACL and other knee ligaments.

Dr Balalla is actively involved in research, and the teaching and supervision of training orthopaedic surgeons. He is currently the Department Head of Orthopaedics at Westmead Public Hospital. He is a member of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) and The European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA.
