Immunology and Allergy

Clinical immunologist and allergist

A/Prof Lucinda Berglund is a clinical immunologist and allergist for adults and teenagers aged 10 or older. She is available to see patients at the Lakeview Private Hospital.

A/Prof Berglund is a Staff Specialist in Clinical Immunology, Allergy and Immunopathology at Westmead and Concord Hospitals. A graduate of the University of New South Wales, she completed physician training at Concord Hospital, and specialist Immunology, Allergy and Immunopathology training at Westmead Hospital, before completing a PhD in B-cell immunodeficiency disorders at the Garvan Institute for Medical Research. She is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and is active in teaching and research, with a number of publications on Common Variable Immunodeficiency and B-cell biology. She is also an active member of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA).

A/Prof Berglund’s practice encompasses all areas of immunology and allergy. She has a particular interest in the assessment and management of recurrent infections and low antibody levels. She is also interested in autoantibodies, lupus, ANCA-positive vasculitis and other connective tissue diseases, and chronic urticaria. She has a dedicated nurse who can provide skin prick testing for the diagnosis of allergic disease at the time of your consultation, if you have avoided antihistamines in the preceding three days. A/Prof Berglund can also prescribe subcutaneous or sublingual immunotherapy, if indicated.

She provides in-depth and caring assessment of all her patients.
