Dr Senanayake Prematilake is an experienced gastroenterologist and hepatologist consulting at Lakeview Private Hospital.

Dr Prematilake is an Australian-trained gastroenterologist and a General physician with an FRACP from the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2007.  He holds MBBS and MD(Medicine) from Sri Lanka.

In addition to consulting at Lakeview Private Hospital, Dr Prematilake has been practicing on the mid-north coast for the past 15 years.

He is an active member of GESA, AGA, ACP and ANMS societies and consistently updates his knowledge and skills to align with international standards.

Dr Prematilake is skilled and experienced with managing patients with complex conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD), faecal incontinence, chronic abdominal pain, bloating, liver diseases, chronic diarrhea, eosinophilic oesophagitis, and other general gastroenterology conditions.

Additionally, he is highly skilled in endoscopic procedures, including the effective removal of small and large polyps, oesophageal and small bowel stricture dilatations, colonic and oesophageal stents, variceal banding, management of upper and lower acute GI bleeding including haemorrhoid bandings.

One of Dr Prematilake’s strengths lies in efficiently following up with patients who have chronic gastrointestinal disorders like IBD and liver disease. By working closely together with the patient’s General Practitioner, he supports a seamless continuum of care for the best outcomes.
